polkad0ttingHello! :) This is my first time participating in Rare Ship Swap, but I’m really excited. I hope you are too! You’re already my new favourite person for volunteering to write one of my ships. If we share one of these rare ships, you are wonderful & awesome & everything lovely. Please don’t be worried about writing for me – I’m very easy to please and I will be ecstatic for pretty much any fic about one of my ships. <3
First, basics, and then on to the fandoms!

In romance: Snark, banter, fond teasing, zaniness, affection masked with humor, snuggling in bed, people in love who enjoy spending time together but aren’t codependent.

Requested Ship: Savedra Severos/Ashlin Alexios

This is a tiny fandom and an even tinier ship – I don’t think any fics exist for this ship yet – so if you’ve offered this you’re a wonderful, wonderful person. :) I love The Bone Palace so, so much, and Savedra and Ashlin are my absolute favourite characters out of a whole cast of favourites (pretty much the only characters I don’t particularly care for are Kirilos and Ciaran).
I would be overjoyed with pretty much any fic you were to write here, as long as it’s happy, or at least has a happy ending. I’m not into unrelieved angst for these two – they went through enough in the book already! Ideas, if you want a starting place (but do feel free to do your own thing!): Ashlin’s POV! I’m intrigued by pretty much everything about her, and I’d love to see things from her POV. What was her life like before she was betrothed, and how did she adjust to married life – with Savedra there; how did she first realise she was falling in love with Savedra, not just her husband? What was their first meeting like – did they confound everyone around them by not acting like they “should”? Every time Ashlin’s in a scene I find myself wondering what she’s thinking.
Or perhaps you want to write post-book fic! Happy Ashlin/Savedra after Nikos accepts them and they no longer have to feel guilty about being together would be absolutely lovely. (If you ship Ashlin/Savedra/Nikos, I'd enjoy reading that too, as long as the POV character was either of the women, and the primary focus wasn’t on Nikos.) Or maybe you’re into hurt/comfort and want to write Ashlin/Savedra immediately post-book. Or maybe you want to write babyfic!
If you want to go porny, that’s great too! Savedra and Ashlin are one of my femslash OTPs, and I love porn, so that’d be lovely. ;) I especially love porn with characterisation, so if you worked in Savedra and Ashlin’s personalities as well as the hot porniness, I would love you forever. :)

Doctor Who
Requested Ship: Martha Jones/Donna Noble
I adore these two. They’re absolutely awesome. I love their personalities, and their humour, and the way they grow over time. Martha and Chantho’s scene in Utopia is still one of my favourites, and Donna’s bravery and sharp-tongued fierceness keep her very close to my heart. I love how they’re both very smart, and how they call the Doctor out when he needs it. I think they’re both absolutely gorgeous, of course, and I love the way they carry themselves and their – if not fearlessness, their willingness to confront what they fear and forge on despite it.
Also, I really loved their relationship on the show. :) They definitely got along, and yes, I ship them desperately, so that’s why I’m asking for them now! Anything with them together is great. The ONLY caveat I’m going to make here is that I’m not interested in a Martha/Donna/Doctor threesome, or even a love triangle. I like the Doctor a lot, and him being a character is grand, but not in the shipping part, please. Just Martha/Donna. :)
I love first-time fic, so if you showed me how they became attracted to each other and got together, that’d be wonderful. (I imagine the Doctor might be a bit bemused, if you wanted to write him.) Or perhaps once they got together Martha stayed on the TARDIS with Donna & the Doctor and they were a three-person team having adventures together! (Including days on which they went “exploring the TARDIS together” and the Doctor knew not to come a-knockin’.) Or perhaps you want to write an AU in which Martha and Donna never met the Doctor (or one of them didn’t) and they ended up working for Torchwood together and fell in love. Or perhaps you want to write some delicious, steaming-hot porn! It’s all great with me. :) I especially like my porn with a hefty helping of characterisation, so if you do go porny, I’d love to see the bits that make it Donna-and-Martha porn, if that makes sense. :)

Ahh, three ships in this request, so don’t worry, I won’t be as longwinded with each as I’ve been in the other two sections, where there was only one to cover! xD
I love tennis. I love the sport, all its nobbly bits and strategy and head-games and breathtaking moments, a good backhand down the line and a fearsome cross-court forehand. I love Sam Stosur’s biceps, and Rafa Nadal’s back muscles, and Laura Robson’s zaniness. I love the umpires, and bad dropshots, and ice-bath pictures with a friend, and underdogs and rivalries, and the sense that most of these athletes are quite good people, on the whole.
The ships I’ve requested are all a bit comforting, I guess would be the word. Sam Stosur is a current WTA player, and Simmone Morrow is her physio/personal trainer (she’s also an athlete – she won softball medals at three straight Olympics). It’s been rumoured for a long time that they’re dating as well. I’d love a story in which this was true, and where they were totally happy and cosy together. If you wanted to bring in tennis and/or friendships with other WTA players, that would be great too. Casey Dellacqua, also an Australian WTA player, recently came out after having a baby with her partner. I also really love Jelena Jankovic, and Li Na, and Sveta Kuznestova, and Serena Williams, and of course Laura & Genie (see later ship). But focusing entirely on Sam & Simmone would be awesome! First-time fics are lovely, as are established-relationship fics. I’d love to see something focused around a tournament (Simmone sits on the sidelines looking rather stressed the whole time, poor woman, and sometimes has a stress ball; maybe Sam tries to relieve the stress later?), particularly if Sam does well. ;) Domestic fic and just the everyday-rhythms of a relationship on the WTA tour would be adored. Porn is also great, although for this ship I’d love if you could get a bit of tennis in too. :) No angst, please.
Rafa Nadal/Rafael “Titín” Maymo is actually rather similar to Sam/Simmone, in that Rafa’s a professional tennis player and Maymo’s his long-term physio who’s become his best friend (Titín is an affectionate nickname bestowed by Rafa). They’re pretty much always together. I put together a bit of a ship manifesto (complete with lots of pictures that prove why everyone should ship them) here. For these two, I’d love just about anything, as long as it isn’t angsty (as for Maria, Rafa’s girlfriend, I’m okay with her 1. never having been in the picture, 2. being a friend who covers for them because of the media furor, 3. being part of a triad situation with them. Just no cheating, please.) Maybe you want to write a first-time fic! (How did Rafa persuade Maymo that they were meant to be together? Did it take a lot of persuasion? Or did he just pull him into a kiss on the massage table one time? And what does Uncle Toni think?) Or maybe you want to write an established-relationship fic in which Rafa is attempting to be a matchmaker for another couple and Maymo is longsufferingly trying to make sure he doesn’t mess anything up too badly. Or maybe you feel like writing some hot porn! Or maybe you want to write a wish-fulfillment coming-out fic where Rafa retires after winning his 12th French Open and climbs up into the stands to kiss Maymo in public at last. It’s alllll good with me. :D
Finally, Laura Robson/Genie Bouchard. :) Laura and Genie are really great friends, hilarious, gorgeous, and variously quirky (Genie) and sarky (Laura). Despite their young age (they both just turned 20), they’re doing quite well for themselves. Genie’s star is very much on the rise - she was a semifinalist at the Australian Open (lost to eventual champion Li Na), and has “Genie’s Army” behind her - and Laura’s been wildly popular in Great Britain since she won Junior Wimbledon when she was 14 (she also won Olympic silver with Andy Murray, and is the current British #1). They’ve been best friends since they were kids. In their spare time, they do things like make Gagnam Style videos together, always go to dinner together, take tons of pictures together, and just generally are two young women having a great time. At least one year Genie moved in to the Robsons’ house during Wimbledon. So I’d love to see a story about them being teenage sweethearts amid the hustle & bustle of the tour, and particularly amid all the fuss and commotion of the media circus (Laura’s had to deal with the British media since she was 14 – and loves trolling them – and Genie’s become a Canadian star in the last year). They’re both inveterate social media people, which has led to interesting moments (Laura is an enormous Roger Federer fangirl, and is always tweeting him; both of them have had run-ins with teenage heartthrobs, as the 1D members tweeted Laura to wish her good luck – causing her to get swamped by millions of Directioners – and then Justin Bieber did the same a few months later for Genie – cue Beliebers freaking out). I also love the friends-to-lovers trope, so maybe they didn’t fall in love as teenagers, but now that they’re older (well, all of 20), one of them starts falling in love with the other, and doesn’t know quite how to broach it? But it all works out in the end and they live happily ever after. :D
Basically, for Tennis RPF what I love is 1) tennis 2) banter 3) friendship 4) affection 5) love and 6) happy endings. Feel free to bring in background characters if you want (as long as the main focus is on the requested ship) – I like pretty much everybody, except for Tipsarevic, Llodra, Stakhovsky, and Simon. I’m not into threesomes for this fandom, though.
